Best Porn, only joined the company a few months ago but is already making waves in the adult entertainment world. We spoke with Max to talk about his story, the current state of adult entertainment, and how he wants to change porn videos and other parts of the industry.
Tell us a little about yourself
I’m a pretty reserved person, so I’m not cut out for that. I’m based in New York and have worked in the media industry for over 10 years, developing video content for news sites and developing what we call new media. That means media that breaks boundaries: print, digital, video, and social.
It was a chance conversation in a bar, I was having drinks at the Mercer and struck up a conversation with a couple who were vacationing there. At least that’s what I thought. They turned out to be a very successful cam couple. It seemed to me that what they were doing was light years ahead of what we were doing in other media, even if it was about sex. They were into porn videos, so on a whim, I texted the guy and told him how impressed I was. We started having conversations and a few months later… here we are!
It’s a big risk to become an adult. No?
I see it as the future. Those of us who work in the media industry are very upset about how social media platforms affect our productions. I don’t think most people realize how dependent magazines and news organizations are on platforms like and.
Big media companies spend tens of thousands of dollars every month trying to figure out how to deliver the right content at the right time, and they live in fear of offending God. No one wants to say it, but these platforms are vampires. You can’t live without them, and yet the relationship consumes you. You can make a profit from your content while paying to promote it. That didn’t seem sustainable to me.
I know people in the adult world are often upset about being excluded from social media, but at the same time, it’s liberating. It’s as if we have a gene that makes us immune to the coming zombie apocalypse. We’ve learned to survive without it, unlike any other media. And you’re not a hillbilly – Porn Video alone has over 60 million monthly visitors and almost 200 million if you count all the porn and other videos that use the platform. That’s incredible. There are only a handful of news sites in the world with this kind of potential consumer reach.
So you think porn videos might be something new?
Not entirely. It turns out those initials have a different meaning in this industry. But because it’s so successful, I think the space is under-exploited. If you’re an adult site and you get more traffic than porn videos or Yahoo, what’s the incentive to change anything? Keep doing what you did before. There are dozens of websites doing the same thing. There’s a lot of overlap when it comes to adult content.
